2011 was a year of change for me. I graduated from school in Boston and moved to New York City where a new job and old friends welcomed me. My long-term relationship ended and I quickly had to adjust to life as a single gal in the city. Throughout all of this I've learned to let the small things go, focus on good memories, and keep a positive outlook.
Although I expect 2012 to bring fewer changes, I couldn't be more excited for the year ahead. I'll still be living and working in New York, and the rest is unknown.
Last month I lost my grandfather, an extremely kind and funny man that I was lucky enough to grow up and spend plenty of time with. He passed unexpectedly, but thankfully I was able to see him in November. My New Years resolutions are in honor of him. Here are a few of his characteristics and beliefs that I'll focus on carrying with me throughout the year.
Try to see the positive in every situation
Never lose faith
Make jokes and laugh, very often
Always appreciate what you have
Be kind
Forgive
Most of all, I'll remember how he saw me in such a positive light and how proud he was of me. This year is about trying to live up to that every day.
Happy New Year!
